Reaching the Gdansk
University of Technology campus
The GUT campus can be reached
by a taxi, a tram or a city train.
Taxi
A taxi will take you directly in front of the Main
Building if you give the driver a proper address: Narutowicza
11/12 and perhaps mention GUT ("Politechnika"
in Polish) and the building you want to reach ("Wydzial
Elektroniki" in Polish).
Important: Remember to demand the receipt from the
driver!
Tram
To reach GUT you can also take a tram. If that
is your choice, you should take the line 6, 11 or 12 and get
off at the stop "Politechnika". From that
point the GUT Main Building is just 10 minutes walk along the
Narutowicza, Bracka and Siedlicka street - see
the map below (click on it for a larger, more
printer-friendly version).
The price of the ticket varies depending on
the time of the tram ride: 1.20 PLN for 10 minutes and 2.40
PLN for 30 minutes. Tram drivers sell packs of three 1.20
PLN tickets for 3.90 PLN, but you can also purchase
individual tickets at most of the newstands in Gdansk.
Passengers should punch their tickets immediately after boarding a tram.
Trams usually go every 10 to 15 minutes.
City train
A special city train called SKM connects Gdańsk, Sopot
and Gdynia. The train station "Politechnika"
is the nearest one from GUT.
Tickets should be purchased at
the station of origin, the price depends on the distance to
the destination station. Passengers should punch their
tickets at the station, before boarding the train. SKM
city trains go every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the time
of day.
How to find the
Faculty Building and Auditorium #1

of GUT campus should help you locate the building with
ease. Here are several pictures of the front of the building:
To reach Auditorium #1 just
proceed onward after you enter the building through the main
entrance. You will find it on your left in a matter of
seconds.
How to get out of the
Gdansk airport
The easiest way to get to the
city from the airport is by a taxi. The fare for a
ride from the airport to the Gdansk University of Technology
campus should be about 35 PLN (approx. 8 Euros). After 10 PM
(22:00) you should expect to pay twice the amount. Only one
taxi company has an official contract for handling
passengers traveling from the airport, you can distinguish
their taxis by the designation 9886 clearly put on top of
the car. By using their services you keep the risk of being
cheated to a minimum.
